More Monday March 2nd

Is conservatism dead as we know it? I know this topic has been beaten to death but a little observation on my part. The Goldwater/Reagan conservatism is on life support because times have changed. Conservatism in the 1980's worked because the sociopolitical climate was different. Coming off the heels of the embarrassment of Watergate and the disaster of the Carter Presidency the country needed a change.* (see side note)

The conservatism which was routed in patriotism, pride of ownership and craftsmanship, self sufficiency was replaced with blatant greed and individualism.

* (Side note: Carter was a good guy but a lousy president. History may judge President Bush Jr. and to President Carter comparably depending on what PBJ does in his post-sleepwalk/presidency).
